Welcome to Caroline"s Closet!

Thanks for visiting! Here, you will find a sampling of the clothes I've made for my daughter, Caroline, and my clients. I love to hear what people think about my designs and I love to hear about what you are sewing! While I am no longer able to accept orders for custom sewing, I'll try to continue to post recently completed projects.

Happy sewing!

Swiss Flannel Baby Kimono

Here's a recent project that I completed for a baby shower gift. I always have a difficult time deciding what to make when the gender is up in the air. The Bunny Nightie is always a good bet for a girl or boy, but a local shop carries them and they are a VERY popular baby gift in these parts. Their popularity makes me hesitate to add to the pile of many bunny nighties, some of which will inevitably need to be returned or exchanged. Therefore, I decided to go in a different direction this time and made a kimono using Collars, Etc.'s Layette pattern. The fabric is a Swiss flannel (outside and lining), trimmed in yellow petite piping and hand embroidered with a design from Michie Mooney's Heirloom Embroidery book. The kimono ties with two satin ribbon closures.
